Saturday our class did our first men's outing. We started at 9:00 in the morning with a big breakfast at Cracker Barrel. The plan? Eat, drink, and be merry right? We had a great group of guys show up, 13 men in all with 7 being people outside of our class! We sat around and talked for a while, cracking jokes, and giving our waitress a hard time.
The trail is located about an hour away from Knoxville so after breakfast we divided up into two different cars and took off.
We made it to the Big Creek trailhead around 12:00 and after a short 1 mile or so hike we found the swimming hole.
On the drive up I was thinking that the place would probably be packed. The sun was out, the temperature was around 90 degrees and I was just sure that everyone and anyone would be swimming. Surprisingly there weren't many people there when we arrived and not many people came during the day. One thing I know for sure is that the water was extremely cold!
Some of the nice features about this swimming hole are 1. It is large 2. It is deep, estimated to be about 30 plus feet deep at some points and 3. It has a waterfall 4. There are big rocks about 10 feet high to jump from.
It took a little bit for everyone to get in. Some guys jumped right in while others took their time hoping that they could adjust to the cold water.
Here is a video of Jesse taking the plunge. Sorry for the poor quality as this was taken with my digital camera.
After a while some of the guys began doing flips off the rocks, diving head first and then Kyle and Jesse began hoping from rock to rock, running on the side of one of the walls. I have a video of that but for some reason could not get it to post this morning?
It was a great day with a great group of men.
